The Director-General of the General Authority for Geological Research, a geologist, advisor to Othman Hassan Abdel Qader, stressed the importance of the project to update the geological map at a scale of 1:100.00, by rehabilitating the Regional Geology Department to carry out the map update, noting that this project started more than (6) years ago and by the end of this year we will be covered The map was challenged by 60% of the area of Sudan, pointing to the great importance of updating the map, especially for researchers, mining, petroleum and water activity. The map is the basis for any work related to minerals. At the same time, the Director of Geological Research revealed a joint project with the Arab Republic of Egypt to assess the seismic risk along the Nile River strip.
For his part, the Director of the General Administration of Geological Surveys said that the project to update the geological map is the first and essential step for all geological operations, noting that this project used a lot of information from the joint projects that took place in the past years, in addition to the use of information from companies and universities.
In the meantime, the Director of the Regional Geology Department, a geologist, a consultant for Hind Siddik, confirmed that updating the geological map at a scale of 1:100,000, which is a detailed drawing scale and is useful in the process of mineral exploration, pointing out that this work was done from within the Regional Geology Department of the General Department of Geological Surveys of the General Authority for geological research. Hind revealed that its administration produces 8 geological maps every year with the same drawing scale.
