By royal order.
On Thursday, the Saudi King, Salman bin Abdulaziz, ordered the dismissal of the head of the Human Rights Commission, Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, from his position, and the appointment of a woman to succeed him.
And the Saudi Press Agency reported that the king appointed Hala Al-Tuwaijri as head of the Human Rights Commission with the rank of minister, by royal order.
Al-Tuwaijri was the Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council in the Kingdom.
The kingdom has recently faced several criticisms, following the sentencing of activists to prison terms and restrictions on others, under the anti-terror law.
