This post comes in the context of allegations appearing on social media that the American series, which began showing in 1989, predicts future events.

Pictures from the famous American cartoon series “The Simpsons” have recently spread through social networking sites, which they said predicted war on Ukraine.

The leaflets include two photos, the first showing a soldier in his uniform with the Ukrainian flag pointing his rifle, marked 2022, at a figure resembling Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In the background, the character of Homer Simpson, one of the series’ heroes, raises the Ukrainian flag

As for the second picture, it shows what appears to be an explosion next to a bomb bearing the sign of nuclear weapons and the date 5/5/2022 on it.

This publication comes in the context of allegations appearing on social networking sites that the American series, which began showing in 1989, predicts future events, reinforcing the conspiracy theory.

The accompanying comment stated, “The Simpsons predicted, in one of its episodes, that a war would take place between Ukraine and Russia, and put the date 5-5-2022 next to a picture of the explosion of a nuclear bomb!”

The post garnered thousands of posts on social media as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continued, and Putin put all components of the deterrent force on alert, including nuclear weapons.

Do the pictures really prove the series’ prediction of what is happening today?

The publications, according to Al-Hurra Agency, did not mention in which episode the pictures appeared, which raises the suspicion that they were actually shown.

Also, a careful search of the AFP news-checking service proved that it was extracted from different episodes that have nothing to do with what is happening in Ukraine.

But the spreaders of misinformation have modified it to make it look like that.

The image used, showing a soldier on the battlefield, appeared in episode 11 of the thirtieth season of the series, which aired in 2019.

When examining the original version of it, it can be noted that it is devoid of the Ukrainian flag on the uniform, and the date on the gun, which were added to the pictures.

The background image of Homer Simpson is from the eighth episode of season 17, which aired in 2005.
In the original version, Homer is shown carrying the American flag, which has been replaced by the Ukrainian flag, in the misleading publication.

As for Putin’s picture, it is cut from a special episode of the American elections that was shown in 2016.
