El-Obeid 9-22-2022 (SUNA) – A training workshop was held today at the Center for Peace and Development Studies at the University of Kordofan on the role of the media in achieving peaceful coexistence and building peace, in the presence of a number of faculties’ deans, as part of the project to enable peace studies in universities implemented by the British Council in cooperation with the Center for Studies Peace and development.
Dr. Montaser Hamid Bellah, Director of the Center for Peace and Development Studies, said in the opening session that the workshop came as a result of a recommendation from a previous training course for journalists to combat hate speech against the backdrop of the bloody tribal events that occurred recently in the state of Blue Nile, explaining that there are many courses that have found support through Donors will come successively and pour into the areas of peace concepts and hate speech.
Dr. Montaser praised the role of the British Council in supporting activities aimed at strengthening peace-building processes at the level of partner universities in the project.
The Director of the Center for Peace Studies confirmed that the workshop program will last for three days, in which a number of specialists will lecture. Meanwhile, Professor Mohamed Mosleh, representative of the British Council, explained that the University of Kordofan is a major partner in the project to enable peace studies in universities, which aims to link theoretical studies with practical aspects in peace studies, peaceful coexistence, conflict resolution and building real peace and downloading it on the ground.
